We are gearing up for the New Year and are super excited about the things that lie ahead for us in 2016. That's why this week we decided to feature a super awesome, upbeat song to boost us up for January 1.
Josh Ritter has made quite a splash this year with his album "Sermon on the Rocks". We have been absolutely loving his track "Get Ready To Get Down" and wanted to share it with you this week in hopes that you find yourself rhythmically engaged and captured.
Ritter grew up Moscow, Idaho listening to extraordinarily influential artists such as Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan, and specifically "Girl from the North Country". We can hear the influences of these artists in "Get Ready to Get Down" with its basic, steady rhythm and mouthful of deeply narrative lyrics.
After dramatically switching career paths from neuroscience to "American History Through Narrative Folk Music" at Oberlin College, Ritter made a move to Scotland to begin taking his musical passion to the next level. There, he studied at the "School of Scottish Folk Studies" for a period of time before then moving back to the states. After making a move to Massachusettes where he played a series of open mic nights, Ritter was spotted by the incredible Glen Hansard Hansard lured Ritter back to Ireland where he found incredible success in selling his albums which essentially launched him into his career as an artist.
It's not a coincidence that "Get Ready To Get Down" has over 4 million plays on Spotify. It's not a song that you can listen to just once and move past. It's rhythm and "keep moving on" message stick to your soul like glue. It's the perfect song to turn on for a pick-me up or help-me-out kind of mood. It's full of quick and catchy one-liners that embrace a feeling of forgiveness and acceptance of a noisy world.
The characteristics of this track are a recipe for a marketing campaign. We absolutely believe that if a company were choose this song to represent their product, it is sure to catch on and find success.
We hope that this track will give you hope as you ring in the new year amongst all that is going on. Never be afraid to turn down the noise and turn up the music. "Get Ready To Get Down" is even more fun to sing along to, so we definitely recommend that you look up the lyrics and jam out.
